Funeral services for Howard "Skip" Jones, 81, Columbia, Mo, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. He died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Boone Hospital. Burial was Thurday, Feb. 9, at Bailey Cemetery, Keswick.
Howard Jones was born July 16, 1924 in Adams twp, Keokuk Co, IA, the son of Frank Evan and Hazel Marshall Jones. He graduated from Keswick High School, where he participated in musicals and choir. He married Betty Aline Hink March 16, 1946, in Grinnell. For 17 years, from 1953, he worked for the Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co, Chicago, Ill, and resided in Ottumwa, Des Moines, Rock Island, Ill., and Fort Wayne, Ind. In 1964 her moved his family to Columbia where he worked as a branch manager and later sales rep for Sunshine Biscuit Inc. He then worked 15 years for the Wetterau Wholesale Food Co., St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1985. He always enjoyed the camaraderie of the fellow sales people.
He like to golf with the Lake of the Woods Three Dollar Golf Club. He was a member of Elks Lodge 594. The annual family vacations to Minnesota were a joy to him for many years.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter and her husband, Paula and Baltasar Weiss, Hopedale, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
