She was born on July 28, 1908 in Bisbee, ND to Frank W. and Laura (Hoover) Holland. Hazel attended school in her early years in Bisbee until her family moved to Sunnyslope where she attended Sunnyslope High School.
On March 14, 1926, she married Amos Jesse Baughman at her parents' home in Sunnyslope and worked alongside her husband in their fruit orchard. Hazel also worked for the Sunnyslope Fruit Exchange during pear and apple harvest.
She was a member of the Sunnyslope Church of the Brethren where she was very active teaching Sunday School, the Ladies Aid and on the Deacon Board. Hazel was also a member of the Sunnyslope High School P.T.A. as the treasurer.
Hazel's joy was with her family and caring for them by baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidering. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Hazel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Leanna Baughman of La Verne, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Dick Ogle of Sunnyslope; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Baughman of Modesto, CA; a brother, Robert Holland of Wenatchee; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Jess Baughman, a son, daughter, grandson and a granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at Jones & Jones Colonial Chapel in Wenatchee at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeanine Ewert officiating. Burial to follow at the Sunnyslope Cemetery.
