Survived the Civil War as a young mother, while her husband fought for the Confederacy in the Virginia Infantry Battalion. During the Reconstruction Period, the family left the war-torn South, moving West to Eight Mile Grove, Cass County, Nebraska. There they remained for many years, before finally migrating to Douglas County, WA in the early 20th Century.
She was the Wife of Alexander P. McMullen b. 1827 in Virginia d. 1903 in Grant County, WA (burial site unknown)
She was the daughter of Ephraim Sites & Barbara Sites (nee Hartman) of Virginia.
She was the Mother of Margaret V., William, Charles, Josephine, Bettie, Elizabeth, Edward, Festus, Luvina, and Bertha. She was tragically preceded in death by her husband, as well as 3 of her 11 total children (name of 1 child is unknown). Most of her descendants made their way to Washington State, where many branches of the McMullen (and related families) live to this day.
Susan McMullen is buried in Sunnyslope Cemetery in Douglas County WA, as is her Daughter Josephine McComb (nee McMullen), and her Great-Granddaughter June Larsen (nee Wood).
