Beulah Emma Kelly was born January 30, 1895 in Knob Noster, Missouri to Reverend John William and Mary Annette Lehman Kelly. Beulah was the youngest of three girls. Her sisters were Alice Edith Kelly Snail (b. 8 Mar 1891 d. 24 Oct 1976) and Amy Josephine Kelly Hart (b.14 Aug 1892 d.29 Oct 1982).

Beulah was three months old when her mother passed away. She lived with her mother's parents until her father remarried. The family then settle at Louisburg, Kansas in 1899 and a new brother, Charles, completed the siblings. Beulah graduated from Louisburg High School in 1914 and taught two years at Cottonwood School and one year at Baxter Elementary School. These were both one room school houses with first through eighth grades. As was the custom of the day, the school teacher lived with the family closest to the school.

In 1916, Beulah moved into the home of Elmer Baker. He had one son, Morris Ray, and a housekeeper, Mrs Short. On January 29, 1917, Elmer Franklin Baker and Beulah Emma Kelly wre married. Beulah finished the year teaching at Baxter, then resigned to become the wife of a farmer and raise her children. She and Elmer had three children: Alice Etta Baker Richardson (b. 10 Sep 1919), Paul Edward Baker (b. 5 Jul 1921), and Mary Helen Baker Brummel(b.1927). Mrs Short worked for the family until 1930.

Elmer died when Beulah was 54. She sold the farm and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She worked for the Hettinger Company until she was 80 years old. Beulah loved to grow flowers and would spend hours in her son's gardens whenever she visited his Smithville farm. Her favorite indoor flower was the African violet, and they could be found adorning every window and table in her apartment.

Beulah took two trips to the Holy Lands and was a member of the Central Bible Church in Kansas City. Her handmade quilts will be a lasting legacy to her family. Her grand daughter will treasure the quilts and the memories or a Barbie doll her Grandma Baker gave her on Christmas Day 1959. Grandma Baker made several outfits by hand for the doll. Grandma Baker also went on a three week tour of Europe in 1970 to encourage and reinforce her studies of the arts and music.

Beulah Emma Kelly Baker died on October 20, 1992 and is buried next to her husband, Elmer Franklin Baker, at the Miami Presbyterian Church.
