Edmund Paquette's obituary reads: The funeral of Edmund Paquette was held yesterday at his home on 29 Thorn St. A solemn requiem high mass followed at St. Joseph's Church at 9 o'clock, Rev. Arthur Cayer officiating. Rev. Rosario Cantin was deacon and Rev. Omer Denomme subdeacon. The bearers were Edward, Alfred, Urgel and Andrew Paquette, sons and Joseph Gautheir and Pierre Soucy. L'Union Canadien was represented by Louis Grenier, President, Frank Gaudette, Joseph Grenier, Joseph Lachapelle and Felix Bernard. There were many floral offerings. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Edmund was born on Sep. 14, 1851 in Contrecoeur Quebec, the son of Clement and Marcelline Jacques Paquette. He married Seraphine Laurent Provencal on April 21, 1873 in Nashua, NH. They had fifteen children, nine of whom survived into adulthood. One of Edmund's grandchildren was Bertha Desjardins, the first wife of Louis J Boucher.
At some point Edmund moved his family to Worcester, MA and he began to work in the brickyard on Crow Hill behind Plantation St. In the 1890 Census he is listed as the sole manufacturer and in 1891 we find a listing for him under "Brick Maufacturers and Dealers." Edmund was also one of the founders of St. Joseph's Parish on Hamiliton St. Bricks from "the brickyard of Paquette Beauregard, Boucher and Charpentier were used in the building of the new church and school." The 1901 city directory also lists Boucher and Paquette as owners.
