Funeral services for David "Bryant" Bass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at First Church of the Nazarene, 211 Southeast Stallings, with the Rev. John Branham and the Rev. Leroy Land officiating.

Bryant was born June 13, 1926 in Nacogdoches to David Lee and Ruth Charleton Bass. He went to be with the Lord March 14, 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Adair Bass; his daughter, Ruth Marie Bowdoin and husband, Bobby; granddaughter, Melissa Bohanon and husband, Brad; grandson, Kevin Bowdoin; great-grandchildren, Brett and Alli Bohanon; little "sister," Iva Johnson; brothers, Cecil Bass and wife, Audie Mae, and Howard Bass and wife, Vera; four nieces; six nephews; brother-in-law, Don Johnson; cousin, Evelyn King; adopted family, Brad Wilson, Dawn Wilson and Scott, Josh, Andy and Morgan; and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Bass Jr.; parents, David Lee and Ruth Charleton Bass; brother, Clifford Bass; and father and mother-in-law, J.H. and Florence Adair.

Bryant was a 1943 graduate of Nacogdoches High School and attended the University of Houston. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and Mary Lou made a home for their family in Houston where he worked for Armco Steel for 33 years. Upon retirement in 1985, they returned to Nacogdoches. Bryant loved the Lord, his family and his dog, Ginger, and many other pets, with all his heart.

Pallbearers will be Robert Bass, Lee Bass, Randy Bass, Donny Johnson, Ronny Johnson, Mark Johnson, Scott Wilson, Josh Wilson and Andy Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Nacogdoches Christian Academy, 211 S.E. Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75964. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the funeral home. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas.
