Memorial services for David Dobbyn Andes, 84, of Temple will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Temple.
Private burial will be in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Andes died Wednesday, March 11, at his home.
He was born on April 2, 1924, to William Henry and Elizabeth Allerdice Andes in Utica, N.Y. He married Mary Alice Fowler on Oct. 5, 1946, in Abilene. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Major MSC. During his service he earned 4 Battle Stars in the European Theater with the 4th Armored Division during World War II. His other decorations include the Purple Heart; the Bronze Star; the Combat Medical Badge; the Presidential Unit Citation and the French Fleur de Guerre.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Temple for more than 30 years, receiving the Elder Emeritus status; the Knob Creek, AF & AM; the Temple Civic Theatre; Past Commander of American Legion Post 26; Past Master Councilor in the Order of DeMolay; Past President in Plaza Forum; Past Chairman of SCORE; past president of Temple Kiwanis Club; past Lieutenant Governor, Div 23, T/O District Kiwanis; past president Temple Golden K Kiwanis; past member Zoning Board of Adjustment & Appeal, Temple; he was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society; and a life-member of Reserve Officer Associations and of the DAV. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Andes.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; two daughters, Brenda Calhoun of Temple and Maureen Jistel of The Colony; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
