Mr. Barber was a floor mechanic for Avalon Carpet and Tile Co. and delivered the Shoppe Newspaper in North Cape May, Cape May and Villas, Lower Township.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop Committee No. 88 of Villas.
Born in Roxboro, Pa., he lived in Lafayette Hills, Pa., before moving here 33 years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Andrew of North Cape May and David of Somers Point; four sisters, Catherine Tifft of Florida, Juanita Warburton of North Cape May, Delores Cluff of Cold Spring, Lower Township, and Patricia Fernandez of Lower Township; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House.
