Jo, as she was called, was the eldest of four children born to Joseph Daniel Poyser and Zelma Estella Gillespie. She was born on her great grandfather Daniel Poyser's homestead in Granit Township, near Long Island, Phillips County, Kansas.
Jo came to Oregon in the late 1930's. She first married Clarence Elmer Colip (son of George Samuel colip and Emma Viora Hamilton) on 5 Nov 1932 in Almena, Norton county, Kansas. They had no children. On 28 Feb 1943 Jo married L. G. Fullerton (son of Robert Lincoln Fullerton and Mary Elizabeth Hutson) in Port Hueneme, California. They had two children:

She was very active in civic affairs, having a life membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home at Eaton Rapids, Michigan; member of the Echo V.F.W. Auxiliary; on the board of Directors of the Umatilla County Historical Society and a Director of the Echo Historical Museum. She was also a member of the Echo community Methodist church. Her hobbies included genealogy, stamp and doll collecting. She wrote several books on family history and had one of the second largest collections of Fullerton material in the United States.

A graveside service for Josephine "Jo" Lois Poyser Fullerton will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Echo Memorial Cemetery with a home-going gathering to follow at the Echo Historical Museum.
Mrs. Fullerton, 89, of Goldendale, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at her home.
The eldest of four children, she was born April 4, 1914, on the Poyser homestead near Long Island, Grant Township, Kan., to Joseph D. and Zelma Gillespie Poyser. She grew up in a close-knit farming community, living a short distance from her grandparents and close friends.
She left Kansas during the dust bowl era and moved to California and later to Oregon.
On Feb. 28, 1943, she married L.G. Fullerton at Port Hueneme, Calif. On the same day Mr. Fullerton, a Machinist Mate 1st Class in the Navy SeaBees, shipped out for the South Pacific during World War II.
The Fullertons were parents of a daughter, Mary, and a son, Danny. They also raised two foster daughters, Shelia Oran and Onna Oran, and Mr. Fullerton's son by a previous marriage, Richard.
They made their home in the historical Koontz House at Echo while Mr. Fullerton owned and operated a heavy construction company. They later moved to Williams in southern Oregon where they lived for a number of years, returning to Echo in 1960.
Mrs. Fullerton had a passion for genealogy and spent 40 years tracing family history. She published four books; two of them, "Silent City" and "Martha Jane, an Oregon Pioneer," were accepted into the Mormon archives at Salt Lake City.
She was active in the community and was a co-founder of the Echo Museum, and served as its first president. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 4943 Ladies Auxiliary and an active member for many years. While in Echo she was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was saved and baptized in 1982.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Goldendale to be near her children and family members.
Survivors include son, Danny, of Goldendale; stepson, Richard of Stayton; daughter, Mary Cox of Goldendale; foster daughters, Shelia Oran of Goldendale and Onna Zamora of The Dalles; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven foster grandchildren and 20 foster great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Gerald Poyser, and a sister, Geraldine Herres.
