The informant was Gladys Eastin and he died of Pneumonia, and Cerebral
Hemorrhage at the Decatur Co. Hospital. It states that he was a
Widower.
The Journal Reporter had his obituary on June 6, 1968. It added the information
that he was born near Leon, and died at the Decatur Co. Hospital. Aug. 31,
1902 he married Lizzie Mae Bullard and they had six children. He was preceded
in death by his wife on Dec. 31, 1958; his parents; sisters, Mandy Umphress,
Emma Rex, Ida, Lizzie Sloan, Lecta, and Ella Negley; brother, Harve, Eddie and
Stephen. The six children surviving were, Steve, Gladys Eastin, Bill and John
all of Leon; Sarah Butcher, Farley; and Harley, Garden Grove; one sister Mattie
Rex.
Marriage is from Family Records and Marriage records at the Decatur County
Court House. Vol 8 1902-2905 p.87. It states that it was the first marriage
for both. Journal Reporter Sept. 4, 1902 p.5 gave the information that they
were married at the resident of Justice W.D. Shelton, at Decatur City, on
Sunday, 31st of Aug. at 4 o'clock.
