Mrs Afroditi Tasios Politis, 81, of Charlotte, NC, died Monday, March 16, 2009.

A native of Sella, Greece, she was born August 29, 1927, daughter of the late George and Spyridoula Tasios.

Mrs. Politis moved to Charlotte in 1965 and was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral as well as the Philoptochos Society.

Mrs. Politis was preceded in death by her husband, Christos Politis.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lazarou and her husband, Paul and Helen Politis, all of Charlotte; a brother, Jimmy Tasios of Winston-Salem; sister, Dimitra Barlas of Athens, Greece; and two granddaughters, Penny Lazarou and Christina Bisbikis and her husband, Steve, all of Charlotte.

Funeral service for Mrs. Politis will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Father Efstathios Varvarelis and Father Tommy Vlahos officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Trisagion will be Tuesday evening, March 17, at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral.

Pallbearers will be Steve Bisbikis, Scott Hefner, Andy Politis, Alec Politis, Louie Pete Politis and Jimmy Kourakos.

Memorials may be made to the The Philoptochos Society, c/o Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service 1111 East Blvd.
