Feb 20, 1931 - Obituary:

Mrs N. M. Thompson was born Mar 20th 1851, age 77 years 11 month. She departed this life Feb 10th 1931 at the home of her daughter, Mrs S. J. Harris, at Calico Rock, Ark. At the age of 19 years she was married to L. R. Thompson, to this union 12 children were born. 5 of these with their father have passed on before and leaving 7 children and a number of grandchildren, with a host of friends to mourn for her.

She obeyed the Gospel in 1891 and lived a faithful member of the church of Christ for 40 years, for many years she had been afflicted but born her afflictions with patience. "Let us not weep as those who have no hope" for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thes. 4:13-14.

Funeral service was held at the Church of Christ in Calico Rock, Feb 12th 1931. Her body was laid to rest in the Spring Creek Cemetery.

Mar 6, 1931 - Obituary:

On Feb 10th the Death Angel visited the home of Mr and Mrs S. R. Harris of this place and taken from them her loving mother, Mrs N. M. Thompson. She had made her home with them for a number of years.

She was the mother of 12 children, 7 now living – 4 sons and 3 daughters—Bill, Hick Huey and Noah Thompson, Frankie Bunch, Phely Jennings and Bettie Harris. Only two daughters present at the time of her death.

She had been crippled for twenty years with a broken leg. She has suffered untold pain and misery so long, but she bore it all with patient. She was 77 years, 10 months and 15 days old. She leaves seven children, fifty-three grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her death.

She lived a life before us worthy for us to follow. It is so hard to give her up but we must be submissive to the will of God, for we know that he knows best. She was willing to go. Just a few days before her death she tried with weak trembling voice to sing an old time song, "Jesus Oh Dear Jesus, How Long Have I to Stay". The again she said "Heaven sweet Heaven, when shall I ever get there".

So we can rest assuredly that she has gone to her home in glory, where there will be no more pain, death sickness nor sorrow, but will be joy and happiness for evermore. May we all live with hope to meet her again, where parting will be no more. Mrs S. R. Harris - Mrs R. E. Jennings
