Henry Boyce was born May 22, 1828 in Watertown, New York. His father, Henry Boyce, born 1796 in England, immigrated/settled in Watertown in approximately 1820.
Henry "Hank" Boyce married Miss Abby M. Hubbard of Winsor, Vermont (Born November 16, 1828) September 19, 1847. They had nine children:

Henry's occupation was that of a Mechanic & Foundry Iron Moulder before and after the United States Civil War. He enlisted in the Union Military as Private Henry Boyce, 76th New York Infantry Regiment, Artillery, 1861. He proudly served his country alongside two brother-in-laws that succumbed to the war's plight of death.

Died-At his home in this city December 4, 1903, HENRY BOYCE; aged 75 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
Although an invalid for many years, the fatal illness of the deceased was only a few days duration. His sickness took on a serious phase about two weeks preceding his death, and in his weak condition soon carried him off.

To them were born nine children, namely Mrs. Kathryn Hart, Stanwood, Iowa; Henry Jr., of Ida Grove, Iowa; Charles, who died in infancy; George, of Warsaw; Mrs. Ella Stone of Sedalia, MO; Mrs. Mary Willsie, of Galesburg; Mrs. Hattie Schaaf, deceased; Mrs. Gussie Turney of Stockton, Ill.; Fred., of Chilliclothe, Ill. All the living children were present at the funeral as were also Mr. Wilsie, Mr. Stone, and Valda Schaaf, a grandson (Hattie's son).
"Hank" Boyce, as he was familiarly known to his friends, was a skilled mechanic and in years past was connected with the old foundry, later entering business at Buda. Among his friends he was well liked, being jovial and companionable. His later years have been marked by suffering. The aged widow and sons and daughters have the sympathy of all who know them.
The deceased was a pioneer fireman and the members of the fire department attended the funeral in a body. The pall-bearers were selected from men who were members of the fire department in its earliest day. The funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev J. M. Thompson. The pall-bearers were F. C. Floto, Henry Auhage, J. D. Hopkins, H. Ruckstuhl, V. Schneider and Henry Leifermann.
