The son of Richard Olmstead, he was baptized on December 30, 1649 in Hartford, Conn. His father, his uncles and their families removed to Norwalk when he was a small child (around 1651). He married (1) Mary Benedict, daughter of my ancesstors, THOMAS & MARY (BRIGHAM) BENEDICT on November 11, 1670 and he married (2) Mrs. Elizabeth (Pardee) Gregory, widow of Thomas Gregory, in 1695 at Norwalk, Conn.

In 1673, the value of John Olmstead's property was 50 pounds. He was chosen a Selectman for Norwalk in 1699 and 1703
submitted by Nareen.
