CANTON Edith L. (Stone) Allen, formerly of Canton, of N. Attleboro passed away March 11th at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. Born in Canton, she graduated from Canton High School and lived her entire life in Canton until moving to N. Attleboro 12 years ago. She worked as a technician for GTE Sylvania for many years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Canton. Beloved wife of the late Tovio Layman, Carl Witt and Edward Allen. Mother of Charles E. Layman of Edgartown, Judith A. Allen of E. Falmouth, Robert G. Witt of N. Attleboro and the late Frances E. Baker and Michael S. Witt. Stepmother of Carl C. Witt Jr. of ME. Sister of Mabel Igo and Eleanor F. Stone both of Canton. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton Sunday 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Eucharist at the Trinity Episcopal Church Canton Monday morning at 10. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Trinity Episcopal Church, Memorial Fund, 1 Blue Hill River Rd., Canton, MA 02021 or to the Life Care Center of Attleboro, 969 Park St. Attleboro, MA 02703, Attention Activities Director.
