Frank Jesse Alvanas, 71, of 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, died surrounded by his family at Newport Hospital
He was the former husband of Jean (Sanches) Alvanas.
Born in Portsmouth, RI, he was the son of Mary (Raposa) Alvanas of Middletown, RI and the late Manuel J. Alvanas.
Mr. Alvanas was a fireman for the Portsmouth Fire Department. He also worked at Raytheon Corp and had been a self employed plaster all his life. He was a member of the Portsmouth Portuguese American Club and the Portsmouth Fireman's Association he was also a CYO director at St. Barnabas Church. Frank, also coached little league with the kids.
He is survived by his children, Christopher M. Alvanas, Bruce Alvanas and Eric Alvanas all of Portsmouth, RI and Stephanie Peterman of Colorado Springs, CO, his brother Stephen Alvanas of Knoxville, TN, and his grandchildren Dustin M. Alvanas, Cassidy J. Alvanas, Kyle A. Alvanas, Evan J. Alvanas, Alexis J. Alvanas and Andrew J. Alvanas all of Portsmouth, RI and Hailey K. Peterman and Christopher M. Peterman of Colorado Springs, CO.
He was the brother of the late Manuel Alvanas and Josephine Tiffault.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Barnabas Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
