Raymond W. Hatfield Sr., 83, of Rushville, died March 12, 2009.

Born March 13, 1925 in Hamden, Ohio, he was the son of Ben Hatfield and Florence (Remy) Hatfield Ratekin, both deceased. He married Alma "Becky" Morris Dec. 27,1947; she preceded him in death Dec. 29, 2002.

Mr. Hatfield retired from General Motors in Indianapolis in 1981 after 30 years. He was a member of the Rushville American Legion and VFW. He served in World War II in the US Army.

Survivors include sons, Raymond (Cindy) Hatfield Jr. of New Salem and Tim Hatfield of Rushville; daughters, Barbara McKinsey, Debbie (Bob) Moore, Kathy Vest and Joan Hauger, all of Rushville; sister, Kathleen Randall of Rushville; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda (July 2008); one infant son; one brother, Charles; sisters, Dolly, Margie, Betty and Shirley; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Garry Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be observed. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
