Burwell Rolland Bailey, age 89, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006. He was born February 3, 1917, in Holton to Edgar Rolland and Leona Catherine (Brown) Bailey. On September 15, 1940, he married Ellen Lucille Phillips in Topeka. Mr. Bailey was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran; a deacon for many years in the North Topeka Baptist Church; a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain Home; a lifetime member of the Alley-White American Legion Post and Ozark VFW Post #3246; a member of the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #225; a 32-degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, silversmithing, and was a Boy Scout leader for more than 30 years. He was a retired civil service supervisor at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Survivors are: his wife: Ellen Lucille Bailey; of the home; 3 sons; Dr. Rolland Bailey and Ed Bailey, both of Flippin, Arkansas; and Michael Bailey, Chandler, Arizona; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. A Masonic Service with Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #225 officiating will be at 7:00 P.M. Saturday in the Roller Chapel. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2006, in the Roller Chapel with Reverend Max Pyron officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Flippin, Arkansas, with military graveside services by the North Central Arkansas Veterans Council officiating and the honor guard by the Ozark VFW Post #3246.
