His father, Joseph Elliott, Sr. came here from Tippecanoe county in 1850, taking up his residence in what is now Harrison township. In the spring primaries this year Mr. Elliott was renominated by the Republicans for a second term without opposition. In 1896 he was the nominee of his party for sheriff of Cass county. He was defeated by but 78 votes though the Democrats carried the county by than 500 that year.
March 14, 1877, Mr. Elliott was (p2) united in marriage to Miss Priscilla Castle. To them four children were born, Blanche, now the wife of Dr. John Bradfield, Harry B. and George M. and Earl, the latter dying in infancy.
