The founder, J.F. Lowe, was a principal of a Wellston School. John Fletcher Lowe, his son, operated the business on Railroad Street in Byron, GA.

Death of Mr. John Lowe.
After an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia, Mr. John F. Lowe died at his home near Byron on Wednesday of last week, March 25. He was 57 years of age, had served with honor in the Confederate army, was a progressive citizen, an excellent farmer, a true friend, an upright man in all his dealings with his fellows. He was well known and highly esteemed throughout the county. Surviving him, the devoted wife, daughter and seven sons have the sincere sympathy of his and their many friends.
