Capt. William W Lendefeld was born March 13, 1960 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and died March 2, 2009 in Seattle. He was graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) in 1982 and completed his service in the Army as a captain. He was graduated from Stanford Business School in 1989. in Business Administration in 1989. He served most of his distinguished career at Microsoft. He was active in the Seattle community, including as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Villa School, which his four beloved children attended. Mr. Landefeld was an avid athlete, participating in triathlons around the US and various bike races. He was most fond, however, of supporting his children in their various activities. Mr. Landefeld is survived by his four children, Charles Raymond, Sally Hooper, August Macmillan and Elizabeth Kreher, their mother Therese Haik Landefeld, his sister Leslie Anne Landefeld Snow, brothers Alexander Macrae Landefeld, Gordon Heard Landefeld, John Hooper Landefeld, Stewart Macmillan Landefeld, and Charles Seth Landefeld, and his friend Moira Delaney and her children Annika and Liam van Leynseele . A service to celebrate Mr. Landefeld's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 7, 2009 at St. Ignatius Chapel of Seattle University. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Seattle Foundation, for The William Wise Landefeld Memorial Fund for Seriously Ill Veterans, supporting veterans' healthcare, 1200 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1300, Seattle, WA 98101-3151.
