Sgt Hopp served in Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Republic of South Vietnam, in 1965-1966, He was a 105 Howitzer gun crew member 0811.
He was a police chief of Pinconning, Michigan.

Chief Arthur L. Hopp, age 57, of Kawkawlin, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 1997 at his home with family at his side following a brief illness.
He was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Arthur & Eleanor (Chicko) Hopp on March 13, 1940.
He married Helen Kinnunen on October 6, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia: she survives him.
Art was a veteran on the Vietnam War, serving with the U. S. Marines. Art came to Pinconning in 1980 as a patrolman for the Police Department and was made Chief in November 1991.
He was active in the area schools and started the Smart Moves program in the Pinconning Area Schools. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Bay County and was one of the founders of the Boys & Girls Club Pinconning Unit also; a member of the Pinconning Mayor's Scholarship Fund Board of Directors and Bay County's 911 Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, a son, Peter Hopp of Ann Arbor; 2 daughters: Terri & Bill Bock of Bay City and Linda & Tom Perez of Midland; 4 grandchildren: Charles, Ben & Tara Perez; Tomi (Jim) Ford; 2 great grandchildren: Sarah Perez and Dustin Ford; his Mother, Eleanor Mahn of Pennsylvania.
He was predeceased by his son, Edward Paul Hopp; his Father, Arthur L Hopp Sr. and step-father, Paul Mahn.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 13, 1997 at 10: a.m. from St. Michael's Church with Rev. Fr. Ramon Matuszewski presiding. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, of Pinconning, was in charge of arrangements.
