PFC. J. C. LAING WRITES FROM AFRICA
Pfc. J. C. Laing of Mer Rouge saw the President of Casablanca. Letters received from J. C. tell of his seeing the President at Casablanca and of being entertained by the movie star, Martha Raye. He also wrote of participating in battle and of thinking "this is my last second on this earth." -- "But thank God, we are still here to tell about it."

He wrote, "I have lots to tell but can only say I am in Africa and getting along fine. Tell Mother not to worry over me for I am OK. Keep writing for letter just mean everything to me. I would like for you to send the Morehouse Enterprise to me. In that way I can get news of the boys in service. The climate here is the same as in California. Guess it will be some hot in summer, though.
