HUMBOLDT, KS - Mary Anna Jones, 100, Humboldt, Kansas, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Humboldt, Kansas.
She was born Oct. 12, 1903, in Marshall County, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver Perry and Jenny Elizabeth (Buckley) Morton.
She was raised in Frankfort, KS, and graduated from Frankfort High School. She attended college at Kansas State University, receiving her teaching certificate.
On June 1, 1928, she married Horace Jones in Wamego, Kansas. He died Dec. 23, 1980.
She taught in rural schools for several years.
She was a member of Humboldt United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Jones, Humboldt, KS, and Robert Jones, Lenexa, KS; a sister, Abbevilla Williams, Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Elmer Jones and Donald Jones; a brother, George Morton; and an infant sister, Maude Alice Morton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Humboldt United Methodist Church, led by the Rev. Don Flanner. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
Memorials to Humboldt United Methodist Church may be left with the funeral home.
