She accepted Christ at an early age and United with Shiloh M .B. Church where she was an active member.
She was united in Holy Matrimony in 1942 to the late Mr. James David Curtis, Sr., to this union five children were born.
Bessie departed this life Monday, June 24, 1996.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three sons Charles (Betty), James (Earlle), and Broderick (Christine), all of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Barbara Porties (Manuel), of Chicago, Illinois, and Betty Head of Belzoni, Mississippi; eighteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Henrine Clay of Chicago, Ill. Three sisters-in-law, Vester, Izora & Jean, and one brother-in-law, Rev Charles Green. A special friend, Clara Burns of Belzoni, MS; an adopted father, "Daddy" Mack King, Sr., and a host of other relatives and friends.

God Saw you getting weaker so He did what He knew best, He came and stood beside you, and whispered, "come to rest," If love alone could save you, you never would have died. You bade no one a last farewell nor even said goodbye, You were gone before we knew it and only God knew why.
