Daughter of Telitha (WARDLAW) VOYLES GRANTHAM, Mem. # 34356978 . Appears with her mother and step-father, Wilbur F. GRANTHAM, on the 1880 census of Hampton, General Militia District #723, Henry County, Georgia. In 1900 she was still single and was boarding with a BROOKS family in General Militia District #668 (Lower Town District) in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia; she was employed as a pants finisher. Note that her mother and other family were enumerated in Jackson County, Georgia, that year, where her half-sister and brother-in-law, Thomas J. & Lenora (GRANTHAM) ARMSTRONG were living next door to a VOYLES household.

Nellie was living in Flovilla, Butts County, Georgia, when her mother died in 1903. In 1910, she was living with her widowed half-sister Nora G. ARMSTRONG in General Militia District #772 (Nances District) of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia; she was single and not shown to be employed outside the home. She was still single and residing in Columbus when her step-father Wilbur GRANTHAM died in 1913. Evidently married to a HALE after this time.

Per Georgia Death Index: Nellie V. HALE, White female, died December 11, 1952 [sic], aged 88 years, in Muscogee County, Georgia, as a resident of the same county, Cert. #28820. Death date reported as December 11, 1951, per Autry et al, Vol. II, p. 103, which shows she is buried in Sec. F, Lot #212 (H. C. GANN on wall).
