Elizabeth Mae (Ashton) Price
former Bensalem PA resident
Elizabeth Mae (Ashton) Price, age 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., died October 5, 2003.
A native of Bensalem, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan Van Sant Ashton and Lucy Vandegrift Ashton; her brothers, Eugene and Jack Ashton; and her husband, Stephen R. Price Sr.
Elizabeth was a 1938 graduate of Bensalem High School. She received her Registered Nursing (R.N.) degree from Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, following which she served in the U.S. Army aboard the Hospital Ship Frances Slanger in the Atlantic Theatre during WWII, in support of combat operations in France and the European Campaign. She left the Army as a captain at the end of the war and continued her nursing career at, among others, Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, the Baptist Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital, both in Jacksonville, Fla., the latter from which she retired in 1982.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ashton Trapp, her brothers, Louis and George Ashton, all of Bensalem; her daughters, Linda Ashton of Austin, Tex., Cynthia Price of Jacksonville, Fla.; and son Stephen R. Price Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren Stefani Hines and her husband Dean Hines of Albuquerque, N. Mex., Margaret and Evan Price of Atlanta, Ga.; and her great grandchild, Greggor Hines, also of Albuquerque, N. Mex.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her service Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
