Isaac's mother was Sarah Bailey, who had been married previously to one of Alex's cousins, a Confederate soldier and a victim of the Civil War. Sarah died when Isaac was 9 years old. After Sarah's death, Alex married Eliza Bridges.
Isaac and Lucinda Bryant, daughter of Ananias Bryant and Sarah Sisk, married in 1895. They raised their family, 2 boys and 3 girls, in the English Creek Community.
