Auba Elizabeth Markham Hamilton's parents were Louis Markham and Elizabeth Lyons of New Orleans. Shortly after the birth of Auba, Elizabeth died of pneumonia and not long after, Louis was a victim of tuberculosis. Auba was 4 and her brother Cornelius was 6. They were both raised by Pleasant Smith Humble and his wife Jane Elizabeth Markham beginning in 1882. HUMBLE, TEXAS was named after this Pleasant Smith Humble. Sadly, Cornelius died at 13, dragged to death by his pony. Auba married W.M.Hamilton and lived her life in Palestine Texas.
