Oscar Cook, 58, died Friday, July 9, 1982, at his home after an extended illness. Born in Kennesaw, Georgia, Dec. 8, 1923, he came to Montana in 1928 with his parents. He served in the Navy in World War II. In 1946 he and Elna Perry were married in Great Falls.
He farmed in the area and purchased the Palace Bar in Fort Benton which he ran from 1970 to 1978.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry; two daughters, Gloria Hofland and Cindy Baack; a sister, Pauline Poindexter, all of Fort Benton. He was preceded in death by brothers Rene, Cecil and Ira, sister Merle DeWar, and his eldest son, Earle, who died last week.
Services were held Monday at the Benton Funeral Home with burial in Fort Benton at Riverside Cemetery.
