Harlow Hohstadt was born April 15, 1878 near Memphis, Missouri. About 1902 he went to Manitou, Oklahoma to homstead a farm.
Bertha simmons was born febuary 17, 1882 at Simmons, Missouri. She taught school from 1901 to 1904 in and around simmons, Missori. Mutual friends introduced Harlow and Bertha by way of letters. Harlow went from Oklahoma to Missouri to meet Bertha and they became engaged. In 1904 Bertha stopped teaching school and on Nov. 22 she and Harlow were married at Lawton, Oklahoma. They lived on the homestead at Manitou, Oklahoma. They had nine children: Bernie, Lola, Gail, Cletus, Opal, Pat, John, Eva, and Harry. They lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, Oregon and Idaho.
Bertha and Harlow were married 54 years. Bertha died may 19, 1959 in Oregon. Harlow died may 18, 1964 in Oregon.
Bertha and Harlow Hohstadt are remembered with much love by their children and multitudes of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
