COFFEY, MRS. ESSIE EDWARDS, 92, Oakdale, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, June 17, 1997. she was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Rankin Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Coffey; daughters Ruby and Helen; sons, Larry, Vance and Lawrence Coffey, Jr.; one grandson, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl, Myrtle and Ada; and brothers Sam, Gen and Klonnie.
She is survived by sons Leonard Coffey of Wartburg and Franklin Coffey of Harriman; daughters Linda Kilby of Oakdale, Wanda Abston of Kingston and Nellie Everett of Harriman; 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday morning, June 20, 1997, at 11 a.m. in Schubert Funeral Home Chapel, Wartburg with Rev. Carl Johnson, Rev. Tommy Kilby and Rev. Ralph Mathis officiating.
Interment was held in the Crab Orchard Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. (The Morgan County News, Vol. 80, #24; June 26, 1997)
