My greatgreatgreat-grandfather married Ruth Burnett on 10 Sep 1829 in Patrick County, VA. She died in 1853. They had four sons and three daughters, Adeline Elizabeth, Virginia Emily, William Thomas, and George Washington Jr.
He married Charlotte Chapman on 23 May 1858 in Hopkins County, TX. They had a daughter, Leatha J. and a son, Dr. Robert Edward Lee Helm.
Great-great-great-grandfather lived into his ninties.

OLD TEXAN DIES
-George W. Helm died at home in Delta County.
-George W. Helm, one of the oldest settlers in North Texas, died last night at his home at Charleston, Delta Co., in the ninety-sixty year of his age.
-The deceased was a native of Kentucky and came to Paris, TX when the town was located four miles southwest of its present location. He was a noted Indian fighter and was on the first jury ever impaneled in Lamar County, the court being held under a tree.
-He was of a long lived family, and was the father of seven children, all of whom survive him, except one son, who was killed while serving as sheriff of De Witt County, in
southwest Texas.
