GATES -- Joseph Gates of Crow, Ore., died Juy 21, 1955. He was born June 26, 1864 in Iowa City, Iowa, and had been a resident of Crow for 85 years. He was united in marriage to Pearl Logan March 11, 1886, at Crow, Ore. She preceded him in death March 18, 1948. He is survived by 5 children: Mrs. Dora Diess of Crow, George Gates of Cottage Grove, Allie E. Gates of Crow, Elden D. Gates of Winston, Ore., Delmer B. Gates of Crow; 1 son, Arlo Gates, preceded his father in death Sept. 4, 1942; also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mr. Gates was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Monday, July 25, 1955, at 2 p.m. in Simon-Lounsbury Mortuary, with Rev. Wesley McCulloch oficiating. Interment in Gates Cemetery.
