Elsie Douglas, Ponca City resident, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Shawn Manor Nursing Home. She was 80. A service will be held at 10am on Friday in the chapel of the Trout Funeral Home with the Rev. Brock Carlile, Pastor, Glad Tidings, Officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home.
Elsie Elizabeth Sickler, the daughter of Jesse and Maude (Keeler) Sickler, was born on Dec. 11, 1928 in Big Cabin, Okla. In 1947 Elsie married Kenneth Douglas in Ponca City, where they made their home. She worked for several years at Smith Gruner Welding and then spent more than 20 years working at the Ponca City Country Club as a waitress. Elsie loved fishing, reading, knitting dolls and afghans and spending time with her family. She was a member of Glad Tidings Church and enjoyed going to Mike's Gospel Jubilee before her illness.

Elsie will be greatly missed in the lives of many.

She is survived by her son Don Douglas and his wife Connie of Lawton; daughter Debbie Golay and husband David of Ponca City; grandchildren, Jessica Douglas, Melissa Bullington, Jessica Bullington, James Bullington, Alexis Bullington, Johnny Douglas, Michael Douglas, Kenneth Douglas, Terri Lynn Douglas and Richard Douglas and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, daughter, Linda Cloud, son, Johnny Douglas, grandson Ethan Bullington, brother, Harold Sickler and sister, Effie Burris.

Casket bearers will be Michael Douglas, Kenneth Douglas, Richard Douglas and James Bullington.
