Jacqueline (Jackie) Robinson, age 93, formerly a long-time resident of Start, LA, passed away at Colonial Nursing Home in Rayville, LA on June 4, 2017.

Jackie was born November 19, 1924, to Arthur and Claudia Spencer of Girard, LA. She married the love of her life, Lonnie H. Robinson in 1942. The couple settled in Start in the late 1940’s where they raised their two sons, Lonnie (Hugh) and Jerry. Jackie was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as an assembly line worker at IT&T and JC Penny’s for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Robinson Construction. She was a member of Crew Lake Methodist Church. Jackie was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was exited to become a “Grandma” to her 5 grandchildren, 9 great grands, and 1 great great granddaughter. Jackie was known for her feisty, yet great, sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was an avid gardener and loved to raise birds, including peacocks, finches, parakeets, and chickens.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Robinson; their son, Lonnie (Hugh) Robinson, Jr.; mother and father, Claudia Spencer Stanley, and Arthur Spencer; brothers, Doug Spencer, and A.J. Spencer; and sisters, Clara Rusk and Dorothy Lord.

Jackie is survived by her sisters, Floye McEnery of Rayville, Betty Faye Weaver of Bastrop, son, Jerry and Sarah Robinson of Start; daughter-in-law, Patricia Robinson of Start; grandchildren, Kim and Chris McElroy of Start, Karen and Donnie Foster of Rayville, Lori and Jay Sepulvado of Delhi, Lonnie and Camilla Robinson of West Monroe, and Tiffany and Benjie Noel of West Monroe.

Family and friends will gather at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville, LA, Tuesday, June 6th, with visitation from 9--11 am., immediately followed by a funeral service at 11 am. with Bro. Ralph Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Larry Bennett, Chris McElroy, Christopher McElroy, Jr., Lonnie Robinson III, Jimmy Spencer, and Steven Weaver. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Kevin Carlisle.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Rene Jackson and the staff of Heart of Hospice for their loving care and support. Also, thank you to Mulhearn Funeral Home for all the arrangements.
