Mary Isabelle (Belle) Minks
1872–1950
on 19 Aug 1893 in Bee Branch Township, Chariton Co, MO.
Their children were:
Dona May Harmon 1893–1896
John Odell Harmon 1895–1965
August William Harmon 1896–1979
General Sherman "Sammy" or "Sam" Harmon 1898–1983
Sterling Chester Harmon 1899–1962
Maggie J Harman 1901–1901
Frederick Curtis Harmon 1903–1978
Francis Evalena Harman 1905–
Harley Richard Harmon 1907–1984
Guy Bernard Harmon 1908–1977
Alpha Minks R Harman 1911–1985
Ralph R. Harmon 1911–
James Franklin Harmon 1914–1930
Their children not linked to below were
Frederick, Evalena, Guy and Ralph
As you can see, most of the children used the Harmon spelling of their last name apparently to reduce the hostility families of German descent may have experienced in those days.
Note: The only place I have ever seen his middle name written as "Sharman" is on his gravestone. Was that correct or an error I wonder? His son G S Harmon Jr was listed as Sherman in at least one census record.
