The former Barbara Serrell was born Aug. 26, 1918 in Rochester.
Barbara Nolan retired from Avery-Hassler Insurance Co. in Clawson, where she worked as a secretary for many years.
She was very active in her husband's and children's lives and she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and baking. She volunteered as a room mother for her children at Guardian Angels School in Clawson. She also drove the nuns and priests to Adrian. Mrs. Nolan served as a Brownie and Scout leader when her children were young. She also cooked chili for the Clawson Knights of Columbus, was a charter member of the Bishop Foley Mom's Club, president of St. Bernadette's Guild at Guardian Angels, and was active in the Daughters of Isabella and Guardian Angels Altar Society.
Survivors of Barbara D. Nolan included her husband, Robert Nolan, whom she married Nov. 13, 1948; children, Sandi of Royal Oak, Debbie of East Lansing, Mike (Jennifer) of Saginaw and Cindy (Albert) of Farmington Hills; brothers, Grant "Joe" Serrell of Holly and Samuel J. Serrell of Elk Rapids; six grandchildren.
