Dorothy J. McQueen, 95, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at Willow Valley. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Kathryn Sloan McQueen. Ms. McQueen was a Teacher and Administrator for the Fairfield Public Schools, Fairfield, CT, where she retired in 1974. Dorothy served her country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She was an Oblate of St. Benedict at the Abby of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT. She was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Dorothy was devoted to teaching, to living her Catholic faith and to sharing her love and life experiences with her "adopted grandson," Raaker Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17602, at 11 AM, with Rev. Leo Goodman as Celebrant. There will be a viewing at the church from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Abbey of Regina Laudis, Bethlehem, CT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Abbey of Regina Laudis, 273 Flanders Road, Bethlehem, CT 06751. Arrangements by the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. Lancaster, PA, 717-393-9661.
