A timber worker and maintenance man at Beersheba Springs Hotel, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by son, Christopher Hampton; brother, William Hoyt Hampton; and sister, Ilene Hampton Campbell.
He is survived by his parents, J.C. and Margaret Campbell Hampton; sons, Todd, Robert Bradley and Jeffery Ross Hampton; sisters, Christine Northcutt and Sharon Whitman; and one grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home Chapel in Altamont with Melvin Childers officiating. Burial followed at Airview Cemetery.
