Tecumseh resident Jean Nichols, 81, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, in Shawnee. She was born on Nov. 1, 1927, in Ardmore, Okla. to Burley Paul and Delya M. (Newton) Harris.
She was raised in Duncan where she attended school, then she moved to Oklahoma City when she was 20. She lived there until 1976 when she moved to west of Tecumseh where she has lived for the past 33 years.
On June 27, 1951, she married Frank Nichols in Henrietta, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1992.
She was a homemaker who loved to cook for everyone. She also was an animal lover who loved her dog "Peaches".
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Erlene Garvin and Juhree Hollinsworth; one brother; W.D. Harris, and two grandchildren, Monty and Sandy Pfortmiller.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Pfortmiller of Edmond; son, Rick Nichols of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Kim Hall of Edmond; Lee Pfortmiller of Dallas, Texas; great-granddaughter, Leslie Hall of Edmond; brother, George Harris of Tecumseh and sister-in-law, Jimmie Mae Harris of Tecumseh.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, with the Chaplain Mike McCauley officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
