A native of Cook County, Mrs. Sumner was a daughter of the late Charlie R. Baldree and Alice King Baldree. She was predeceased by her husband, Jessie Floyd Sumner. She attended Baptist church services and was active in her community.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Engle of Conyers, Fay Bratcher and Carlis Sumner, both of Nahunta, and Jean Vann of Brunswick; four sons, Ray Sumner of Brunswick, Bill Sumner of Atkinson, Franklin Sumner of San Jose, CA and Dean Sumner of Ludowici; one sister, Ola Mae Harper of Manor; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, from King Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Rickey Harris, Stacey Mullis and Mike Yawn officiating.
Burial followed in the Hortense Cemetery.
Joel Chambless Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
