Dr. Dale S. Jenkins

Dale S. Jenkins, D.D.S., 80, died Saturday, June 7, 1997 at Oak Crest Retirement Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Orient, Ill. the son of Llewellyn and Effie Jenkins. He married Elizabeth Wheeler on Aug. 28, 1941 in DeKalb. He attended Blackburn College and graduated from Loyola Dental School, starting his practice in DeKalb. He retired after 45 years. He served as a Captain in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ; lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, DeKalb Lodge #765; Goodfellows; and Rotary Club of Dekalb. He was also a lifetime member of the Illinois State Dental Society; President of the Fox River Valley Dental Society; and in "Who's Who in The Midwest."
Survivors include his wife, Libby; one son, Richard (Sharon) Jenkins of Rhode Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 1997 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at the First Congregational Church, 615 N. First St., DeKalb. The Rev. Jane Ann Moore will be officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Dr. Dale Jenkins, in care of Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, Illinois 60115. For information call 758-3841
