Helen W. Eich was born on March 8, 1919 at Kenosha, Wisconsin to Phillip and Fern (Harris) Eich. She moved with her family to South Dakota near Epiphany and then to Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School.

On June 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Einer J. Christensen at Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Lake Benton, MN for a year before moving to Sioux Falls. She had worked for a number of years as a cook for Edison Junior High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the NARFE, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and a past member of Women's League of Voters and Postal Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Einer; two children, Glenn of Santa Rosa, CA and Janice Hurley, Sioux Falls, SD; and 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Bryan, Lisa and Aaron.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Harriett.
The Family would like to invite friends and relatives to gather for fellowship at the church following the committal service at the cemetery.
Funeral service 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 1997 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Sioux falls, S.D. Rev. Marvin Kormann, officiating,. Barbara Preloger, organist, Jeanne Carter, soloist, Songs "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee". Interment in Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls, SD. Pallbearers Bryan Hurley, Toby Eich, Marvin Meyer, Sean Heisler, Rich Hurley, and Donald Christensen. Arrangements made by Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
