Enlisted on 8/15/1862 as a Private.

On 8/15/1862 he mustered into "C" Co. 99th Indiana Infantry.
Captured at Kingston, Georgia on October 27th, 1864 and imprisoned at Salisbury, North Carolina. He was later paroled on February 24th, 1865 at Aikin's Landing, Virginia.
He was Mustered Out on 6/5/1865 at Washington, D.C.

Catey died on February 5th, 1880 in a hunting accident.
