A son of the late Clifford M. Lyon and Dorothy L.Wright Lyon, he was born in Georgetown, Pa., on Nov. 15, 1931.
He was a 1949 graduate of Chester High School and had a degree in accounting from the Ohio Valley Business College.
Having lived in the area all of his life, Mr. Lyon was retired in 1986 from the former IBPAW where he had been an accountant for 20 years. Prior to that, he was a field auditor of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and had been Assistant Treasurer for the Hancock County Federal Savings & Loan.
He was a member of the Hookstown Fair Board for 30 years, a Life Member of the Southside Sportsman's Club, an Honorary Life Member of the Sebring Model Railroad Club. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and family.
His wife, Stephenie Constance Adamchick Lyon, whom he married Feb. 26, 1983, survives at home.
A brother, Donald L. Lyon of Wintersville, Ohio, also survives, as well as two nephews, Douglas R. Lyon of Henderson, Nev., and Eric L. Lyon and his wife, Dawn, of Bloomingdale, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Brian Kilbert of the First Presbyterian Church in Newell officiating. Burial will be at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown, Pa.
