MITCHELL - JoAnn Andrew, 61, of Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at her home.
At her request, cremation has been held at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m., at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell, with Reverend Troy Allen officiating. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice.
She was born Oct. 26, 1947, in Ogallala, Neb., to Harold Martin and Susan Elizabeth (Hastings) Waterman. She attended school in Morrill, Neb., where she met the love of her life, Robert Lee Andrew. They were married Dec. 14, 1963. After trying out a few places, they moved to Mitchell where they have resided for the last 38 years. On June 3, 1979, they were blessed with a daughter, Kimberly Jo Andrew.
She worked side by side with her husband, Robert, cutting hay, running his scraper on occasion, and just helping with whatever needed to be done. She later went to work for Hinn's Home Furnishings in Scottsbluff, where she managed the store for several years until she got ill and was forced to retire. She always loved to decorate, whether it was her own house or somebody else's. It didn't really matter as long as she was making something look beautiful. She loved working on her house or her yard and always by her side (or under her feet!) was her best friend, Chip. She rarely went anywhere without her faithful dog.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Andrew; daughter, Kim Andrew; sisters, Jane Schmidt and Janet (Walt) Fredrich; brother, Mark Lowery; mother-in-law, Jean Martindale; brother-in-law, Jim (Donna) Clark; sisters-in-law, Carol Webber, Grace Andrew, Susan Andrew and Virginia Waterman; uncle, Kenneth (Estiline) Waterman; aunts, Irene Karr, Pauline Lyon, Maxine (Ivan) Snider, Bernice Brown, Violet Kosmiski and Barbara Baker; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews
She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan (Hastings) (Waterman) Lowery; father, Harold Martin Waterman; fathers-in-law, Tom Andrew and Ray Martindale; brother, Harold "Dean" Waterman; and brothers-in-law, Tommy Andrew and Jerry Andrew.
