She was the wife of Herbert Hutchins. She was the daughter of the late Milton and Myrtle Spencer.
She was a graduate of RI Hospital School of Nursing and received her Bachelors degree from Barrington College and her Masters degree in teaching from RI College. She later pursued Doctoral studies at Walden University. Mrs. Hutchins worked at the state medical center in Cranston teaching psychiatric nursing for 18 years. She later served in various administrative capacities before retiring in 1995. She loved music and studied voice for many years.
Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Beth Renzi and Shirley Abatiello both of Cranston and Brenda Marshall of Orlando, FL; two sons Stephen Hutchins of Scituate and Mark Hutchins of Chattanooga, TN; 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Norman Spencer and Marilyn Durrell. She was mother of the late Michael David Hutchins.
