Julia V. Bertocki, 86, of Lower Burrell, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Nov. 27, 1922, in New Kensington, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Locus Vanery and had been a life long resident of the local area.

She had worked as a presser for the former Walzers Cleaners in New Kensington and had previously been a machine operator for the Brush Manufacturing Company, having previously worked as a bottler for the Joseph Finch Co. in Schenley. Julia was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, and a former member of the Altar Society of the former St. John Bosco Church in Braeburn. She was also a member of Braeburn Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, babysitting and time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra L. (Nick) Mulone, of Cheswick; a son, Joseph "Tom" (Darlene) Bertocki, of Lower Burrell; six grandchildren, Denise (Craig) Kovac, Michael (Kami) Luffy, Michele (Steve) Butler, Nicole (Mike) Christopherson, Kevin Bertocki and Tracy (Steven) Petzuk; five great-grandchildren, Tia Patterson, Cole Kovac, Thomas Joseph "TJ" Christopherson, Mia Petzuk and Hunter Petzuk; two sisters, Marie Blubaugh, of Arnold, and Helen (Walter) Krall, of Lower Burrell; and a brother, Andrew (Stephanie) Vanery, of Logans Ferry Heights, Plum Borough.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Adams.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, Lower Burrell.

Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
