Ralpha Jo (Harper) Smith

Smith, Ralpha Jo (Harper) of Port Charlotte, Florida, died February 11, 2005 after a long battle with emphysema. Born March 27, 1951 in Broken Arrow, OK, graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1969, and from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with her teaching degree in 1973. She started her teaching career in Holly Grove, AR, then moved to Portland, AR for the next 4 years. She then moved to Arcadia, FL and was a middle school teacher in the Desoto County School system for 25 years. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Woodrow Wilson and Mary Belle Smith of Arcadia, FL; her mother, Josephine Harper, of Broken Arrow and her sister Mary Ann Harper-Remmick of Gainsville, TX. Survivors include her husband, Jerry of the home; Daughter, Jeri J. of Port Charlotte, FL; Son, Woodrow, of Englewood, FL; Father, Ralph Harper of Broken Arrow, and her brothers, Mark and Sam Harper, both of Broken Arrow. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel, 1660 S. Elm Pl., Broken Arrow, OK with interment in the Harper Family Cemetery. Memorial donation may be made to Hospice of Southwest, FL, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
